Positive tests comes in two days after five-touchdown season debut versus Illinois.
Just two days after helping vault Wisconsin into the top 10 of the AP top 25 poll, quarterback Graham Mertz has tested positive for COVID-19.
This according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
On Friday, Mertz kicked off the Big Ten schedule with a performance few would soon forget, going 20 for 21 for 248 yards and 5 touchdowns against Illinois. The 45-7 win was his first career start.
Mertz could still start next week against Nebraska if he doesn’t continue to register positive tests. A second positive would force him to sit out for 21 days per Big Ten protocol.
